Title: Saved For Good Works

For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.ย  (Ephesians 2:10 NLT)

ย

Thereโ€™s a story of a man of God who once took a cab in London. As was his custom, he began sharing the Gospel with the driver. He asked, โ€œDo you believe in Jesus, Heaven, and Hell?โ€ The driver replied, โ€œNo, I donโ€™t believe in any of that.โ€ Then the driver turned the question back to him: โ€œDo you believe in Jesus?โ€ The man of God answered, โ€œYes, I do.โ€

The driver then asked a striking question: โ€œIf you believe youโ€™ll go to Heaven, why donโ€™t you just kill yourself and go there now? After all, youโ€™d escape all the bills, debts, and problems of this world.โ€ The question caught the man of God off guard. Before he could respond, they had already arrived at the destination.

This story raises a profound question: If God knows how unpredictable human beings areโ€”how we can choose to reject Him even after knowing Himโ€”and if the devil is constantly working to steal, kill, and destroy, why doesnโ€™t God just take us to Heaven the moment weโ€™re saved?

I believe the answer lies in understanding the purpose of our salvation. Sadly, many Christians have never truly asked this question. And even if they have, they may not have searched deeply for the answerโ€”or fully grasped it. This may explain why so many believers live fruitless lives, contributing little to the Kingdom of God. The truth is, many Christians donโ€™t really knowย whyย they were saved.

But God, in His grace, has revealed the answer in todayโ€™s scripture. We are not just savedย fromย sinโ€”we are savedย forย good works. God created us anew in Christ Jesus so that we would walk in the good works He prepared for us long ago (Eph 2:10).

When we come to Jesus, He removes the burden of sin and darknessโ€”and gives us His burden: the burden for lost souls (Matt 11:29). Each of us has a role to play. There are souls to be saved, lives to be transformed, and believers to be nurtured in their spiritual growth.

Let us not lose sight of this calling. Let us focus on the work God has entrusted to us and do it diligently, knowing that one day we will stand before Him and give an account.

Beloved in the Lord, though God has touched our lives and given us the promise of Heaven, there is still work to be done here on Earth. There are divine assignments to fulfill, and God expects us to respond to His great love by giving ourselves wholly to His service.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word today. Letโ€™s ask Him to help us understand His purpose for our lives and grant us the grace to walk in obedience and fulfill every assignment He has prepared for us.

God bless you all.
