Oh, how I love your law! I meditate on it all day long. Your commands are always with me and make me wiser than my enemies.

Meditation is a powerful practice that has been valued for centuries across many traditions, including Christianity. In the Bible, meditation is often linked with reflection on God’s Word, quieting the heart, and aligning oneself with God’s will. While modern meditation often emphasises mindfulness or stress relief, biblical meditation focuses on a deep, intentional engagement with God through His Word and presence.

Biblical meditation means intentionally focusing your heart and mind on God and His Word. It’s a devotional practice that allows the Holy Spirit to bring God’s truth to life in the believer’s heart.

The Hebrew word “hagah” often translated as “meditate,” means to mutter, ponder, or contemplate deeply. It’s not passive—it’s an active reflection.

Through meditation, believers commune with God personally and intimately. It turns the reading of Scripture into a relational experience. Psalm 63:6. says “When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches” NKJV

David meditated on God even in solitude and stillness, showing how meditation anchors us in the presence of God even when we’re alone.
Meditation, when rooted in Scripture and focused on God, is not just a mental exercise—it’s a spiritual discipline that brings peace, strength, wisdom, and intimacy with God.

May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, Lord, my Rock and my Redeemer.

Psalm 19:14 NIV

In a distracted world, meditation is a sacred rhythm that re-centres our lives on what matters most—God Himself.
