โ€œAnd God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth.โ€
Genesis 1:28 KJV

Immediately after creating man, God released a foundational command and blessing: โ€œBe fruitful and multiply.โ€ This was not just a call to biological reproduction but a divine mandate to extend His life, character, and likeness throughout the earth. Godโ€™s desire was that Adam and Eve would raise a people who shared their spiritual natureโ€”carriers of Godโ€™s presence and rulers over His creation.

The symbols in the Garden of Edenโ€”trees, rivers, and animalsโ€”represent people and nations. Adam and Eve were not alone; the garden was an image of a spiritual reality. Therefore, the multiplication God desired was not merely physical but spiritualโ€”a replication of life, essence, and divine nature in others.

The principle of multiplication in the Kingdom of God operates through deathโ€”not death caused by sin, but death through surrender and obedience. Jesus revealed this mystery when He said:

โ€œExcept a corn of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit.โ€ (John 12:24 KJV)

Adam failed to lay down his will before God, but Jesus perfectly fulfilled this mandate by submitting to the Fatherโ€™s will and dying on the cross. As a result, His life has now been multiplied in all who believe in Him.

In the same way, we experience true fruitfulness and multiplication only when we die to selfโ€”our desires, our will, and our ambitionsโ€”and yield completely to God. Multiplication is not achieved merely through biological procreation, but through spiritual discipleship: imparting life to others, raising them to walk in the same nature and dominion that God has given us.

The command to be fruitful and multiply still stands today. We fulfil it by allowing Christโ€™s life to be reproduced in others through us. Every time we lay down our will in obedience, His life is multiplied through us.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask Him for grace to die to ourselves daily, so that His life may be reproduced in us and through us, causing us to be truly fruitful and multiply.
