โ€œFor with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.โ€
โ€” Romans 10:10 (KJV)

Salvation is the greatest gift God has given to mankind, yet it is not received casually or accidentally. Although it is freely offered by grace, there is a divine protocol through which it is received. God is a God of order, and even in matters of redemption, He has established a clear process.

Our scriptural text reveals this protocol clearly: belief with the heart and confession. Salvation begins inwardly, with genuine faith in the heart. Until the heart is convinced, true righteousness cannot be established. However, salvation does not end in the heart; it must be expressed.

While Romans 10:10 highlights confession with the mouth, Scripture reveals that confession is broader than spoken words. True confession is also made with our actions. Words may announce our faith, but our lifestyle confirms it. This is why the Bible says that some โ€œprofess that they know God; but in works they deny Himโ€ (Titus 1:16). Such people confess Christ with their lips but reject Him through their conduct.

Actions, therefore, carry greater weight than words because they reveal what truly rules the heart. A man may call Jesus โ€œLord,โ€ yet live in disobedience to His commands. This explains why some will be rejected at the endโ€”not because they did not call Him Lord, but because their lives contradicted their confession. Jesus Himself said, โ€œI never knew you: depart from Me, ye that work iniquityโ€ (Matthew 7:23).

The protocol of salvation demands alignment between belief, confession, and conduct. When a man truly believes, his speech changes; and when his speech changes, his life must follow. Salvation introduces a new nature, and that new nature produces new fruits. Where there is no transformation in actions, the confession remains questionable.

This does not mean we earn salvation by works, but that genuine salvation produces works. Works are not the root of salvation; they are its evidence. A saved man lives saved. His obedience, righteousness, and separation from sin become his loudest confession.

Let us, therefore, examine ourselves. Let our confession not be limited to words spoken in a moment, but be reinforced daily by lives that honour Christ. When belief, confession, and conduct agree, the protocol of salvation is fulfilled.
