โBut none of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself, so that I might finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.โ
Acts 20:24 KJV
Ever since the beginning, the enemy has always acted to take man out of Godโs original position for him. He seeks to shift our confidence in God through the trials and temptations he brings. But when we know and trust the Lord, we remain unmoved and steadfast in the faith.
The enemy is the same old serpent; his tricks have not changed over the years, and neither has his hatred for humansโespecially those with a heart to do the will of God. One way he attempts to unsettle us in our faith is through the trials he brings. For example, when Apostle Paul was compelled in his spirit to go to Jerusalem, there were many prophetic words concerning the trials he would face there.
Although those who spoke to him were speaking by the Spirit, the trials he was going to face in Jerusalem were not necessarily from God, but were the devilโs attempt to frustrate his ministry. Yet Apostle Paul remained unmoved, as he declared in Acts 20:24. This was because he did not count his life so dear to himself that it would become a reason not to fulfil his ministryโhis course.
Many in Paulโs position would have been discouraged and turned away from following the Lord, just as some of the disciples in Tyre and even his companion Luke did when they attempted to stop Paul (Acts 21:3โ4, 14). Yet through his obedience, Paul not only fulfilled his ministry in Jerusalem, but his long-standing desire to visit Romeโso he could impart some spiritual gift to strengthen the believers there (Romans 1:11)โwas also granted. This happened when he appealed to Caesar (Acts 23:11; Acts 25:11). In Rome, was where Apostle Paulโs ministry had its greatest impact and became transgenerational.
Like Apostle Paul, we must remain resolute and unmoved by the trials of life, ensuring that we stay where God has placed us and do what He has instructed us to do. God rewards those who remain faithful despite trials.
Prayer Point:
Let us thank God for His Word today. Let us ask Him to help us remain unmoved in the face of trials.
