And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28
Recently, I experienced something I wasn’t pleased with. On the day it happened, as I was about to share reels online—as I do daily—I came across one that was automatically generated from our programme “Let’s Discuss the Word” on Wisdom Television. In this reel, I was asked, Does God allow evil to happen to a Christian? I responded by saying that whatever God allows is good, even if it may not be convenient for our flesh.
This brought me great comfort, as I was encouraged to see God in my situation. When Joseph was sold as a slave, an observer in that moment would have called the experience evil. However, in the end, when God exalted Joseph in a strange land, we see that it was good. What is good or evil is not determined by how the experience makes us feel, but by what God uses it to accomplish in our lives.
In the Let’s Discuss the Word session from which that reel was generated, I shared the testimony of a lady who experienced a disappointment and began questioning God about it. God replied to her with these words: “You call it evil, but I call it good, because it drew you closer to Me.” Good or evil is not determined by whether it is painful or not, but by what God does through it.
From what I have shared above, a Christian cannot truly experience evil because God always turns whatever we experience for our good. Again, we may not know the good God is working through the experiences He allows, for the revelation of what He is doing may not come immediately. However, since we believe what is written in Romans 8:28—that He makes all things work for our good—we should trust Him and thank Him even for unpleasant situations.
That situation is for your good.
Prayer Points
Let us thank God for His word today. Let us ask Him to help us trust Him enough to believe that whatever He allows is for our good.
