Forasmuch as many have taken in hand to set forth in order a declaration of those things which are most surely believed among us (Luke 1:1).
Every time we get to a traffic light while driving and the red light comes on, all the cars going in that direction must stop. This happens without any driver talking to each other, without announcements, and without a physical barrier stopping the vehicles. And as soon as the light turns green, everyone moves again. This simple experience reveals the power of shared understanding. We respond instinctively because we have all been taught the same rules.
This universal language of kingdom knowledge was also employed in the ministry of our Lord Jesus Christ. Through parables, teachings, and lived examples, He trained His followers in the ways of the Kingdom. Luke reminds us that the early believers held firmly to โthose things which are most surely believed among us.โ Their unity did not come from constant instruction, but from a shared foundation. They had sat at the feet of the same Master and learned the same truths.
The Kingdom of God functions like an academy. A place of learning, formation, and transformation. Entrance into this academy is by grace, but growth within it requires discipleship. Jesus did not merely call people to believe; He called them to learn, to observe, and to follow. In the Kingdom academy, character is shaped. We forgive because we have been taught forgiveness. We love because we have learned love. We obey because obedience has been written on our hearts.
After Christ ascended, the Holy Spirit was sent as the promise of the Father. He took up the sacred duty of continuing our education. As the great teacher, He illuminates the Word, unveils mysteries, and forms Christ within us. Through Scripture, conviction, and gentle guidance, He ensures that the lessons of the Kingdom are not forgotten but lived out daily. This is why the gathering of believers is so vital. When we come together, we are reminded, corrected, encouraged, and strengthened. Over time, unity grows, not because we have agreed to act the same, but because we have learned the same truth.
Prayer point:
- Let us thank God for His word today.
- Let’s ask Him for the grace to remain teachable in His kingdom so we can become one with Him.
