And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose. Romans 8:28 NIV

.

God makes all things work together for our good. This means that whatever a believer experiences leads to good being done in them. These good outcomes become opportunities even in seemingly challenging situations. Seeing them as such will help us honour Him in our situation.

Some years ago, I heard of a man of God who was falsely accused and put in prison by an anonymous person. Having a desire to know who the accuser was, he resorted to seeking God in prayer to reveal who it was. In turn, God didnโ€™t just reveal the person, but left him with a deep word of knowledge: that you didnโ€™t have to say things before He knows.

It turned out that the situation, though uncomfortable, was Godโ€™s means to bring him to a greater level of the prophetic. Certain challenges are Godโ€™s setup to elevate or promote you in the Kingdom. This promotion is not just in terms of the manifestation of gifts, but also in rising to higher positions at the workplace or in government.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were in a challenging situation and chose to honour God in it, instead of bowing to the image of Nebuchadnezzar. What was a crisis situation became a means of promotion, as the king elevated them in Babylon among his officials (Daniel 3:30 NIV ).

Letโ€™s not forget Paul and Silas, who, after obeying God by going to Macedonia instead of Asia, were arrested just when they thought their ministry there was complete. However, while in prison, they chose to honour God by praising Him at night, despite the inconvenience. This too became a means by which souls they never thought they could reach with the gospel were saved: the prisoners, the warden, and his family (Acts 16:16โ€“40 NIV).

Challenges are disguised opportunities when we choose to honour God in our situation. Again, as we pray that He should help us know what He is doing through what He allows, He will reveal this and give us grace to utilise it to the full.

Prayer Points

Let us thank God for His word today. Let us thank Him for the challenges He allows and the opportunities that come with them. Let us ask Him to help us see these opportunities and give us grace to utilise them.
