Bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do.
(Colossians 3:13 NKJV)

Relationships are one of Godโs greatest gifts, yet they can also become the place where the deepest wounds occur. Words spoken in anger, misunderstandings, disappointments, and broken trust can easily leave scars on the heart. When such moments arise, the natural response is often to withdraw, to hold onto the offence, or to keep a record of the wrong.
However, the Word of God calls us to a higher way. The word of God reminds believers that the new life in Christ is marked by patience and forgiveness (Col 3:13). To โbear with one anotherโ means to make room for human weakness. It means recognising that none of us has reached perfection and that every believer is still growing in grace (Phil 1:6). Patience allows love to remain even when others fall short (1 Pet 4:8).
The above Scripture goes further and commands us to forgive. Forgiveness is not pretending that the pain was small or insignificant. It is choosing to release the offence and refusing to allow bitterness to take root in the heart. Scripture warns us to guard our hearts carefully, lest bitterness grow and bring trouble (Heb 12:15).
The foundation of this command is found in the words, โeven as Christ forgave you.โ Our forgiveness toward others flows from the forgiveness we ourselves have received through Christ. At the cross, Jesus carried the weight of our sins and extended mercy when we least deserved it. Because we have been forgiven so greatly, we are called to extend that same grace to others.
This does not always come easily. Forgiveness often requires humility, prayer, and surrender (Js 4:10). Yet when we forgive, we reflect the heart of Christ and experience the freedom that comes from releasing what we were never meant to carry (Gal 5:1).
Beloved in the Lord, allow the Spirit of God to search your heart. If there is someone you have struggled to forgive, bring that burden before the Lord. Ask Him to fill your heart with His grace and to help you walk in the same mercy He has shown you.
Prayer Point:
Let us thank God for His Mercy and Forgiveness. Letโs ask the Lord to help all Believers to forgive all those who have offended us, just as the Lord forgave us.
God bless you all!
