โ€œTherefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bowโ€ฆโ€ Philippians 2:9โ€“11

The statement โ€œJesus is Lordโ€ is more than a Christian phraseโ€”it is a declaration of authority, surrender, and truth. To call Jesus Lord means recognising that He is not only Saviour, but also King, Master, and ruler over every area of life.

Many people want Jesus as Saviour but struggle to accept Him as Lord. We want His blessings, protection, and promises, yet sometimes resist His direction, correction, and authority. But true Christianity is not simply about believing in Jesusโ€”it is about surrendering to Him.

Jesus Himself said:
โ€œWhy do you call Me โ€˜Lord, Lord,โ€™ and not do the things which I say?โ€ (Luke 6:46)

Lordship means obedience. It means allowing Christ to guide our decisions, shape our character, and lead our lives.

Another illustration is a patient who visits a doctor but refuses to follow the prescription. The doctor may have the solution, but healing only comes when instructions are followed. Jesus is the Great Physician (Mark 2:17), but His Lordship requires trust and obedience.

The Bible says:
โ€œTrust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.โ€ (Proverbs 3:5โ€“6)

In these uncertain times, acknowledging Jesus as Lord is more important than ever. Culture changes, opinions shift, and worldly systems fail, but Christ remains the same (Hebrews 13:8). He is Lord over fear, Lord over sin, Lord over trials, Lord over the future, and Lord over eternity.

Even storms obeyed Him.
โ€œThen He arose and rebuked the windโ€ฆ and there was a great calm.โ€ (Mark 4:39)
Demons trembled before Him (Luke 8:28). Death could not hold Him (Revelation 1:18).

One day, every person will recognise His Lordship:
โ€œEvery knee should bowโ€ฆ and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord.โ€ (Philippians 2:10โ€“11)

The question is not whether Jesus is Lord.
The question is whether He is truly Lord over your life.

Will you trust Him with your plans?
Will you obey Him when it is difficult?
Will you surrender the areas you still control?

Because when Jesus becomes Lord, life finds direction, purpose, and peace.

Prayer Points

  • Let’s thank God for His word.
  • Let’s ask the lord to teach us to trust in Him fully and obey Him completely.
