For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments. And His commandments are not burdensome.

(1 John 5:3 NKJV)

A loving child does not obey his parents merely out of fear of punishment, but because love creates a desire to please them. In the same way, true love for God is revealed through obedience to His Word. The Apostle John teaches that loving God is not simply expressed through words, emotions, or religious activities, but through a life that seeks to obey His commandments (Jn 14:15).

Many people see Godโ€™s commandments as burdensome restrictions, yet the Word of God teaches otherwise. Godโ€™s commands are not given to destroy us but to guide, protect, and shape us into the image of Christ. When a believer truly loves God, obedience becomes a joyful response rather than a heavy obligation. Through the help of the Holy Spirit, the child of God receives both the desire and the strength to walk in Godโ€™s ways (Acts 1:8, Ezk 36:27).

Among the commandments our Lord Jesus Christ has given us is the command to love one another (Jn 13:34). Jesus said, โ€œBy this shall all men know that ye are my disciples, if ye have love one to anotherโ€ (Jn 13:35). Genuine Christianity is demonstrated not only through worship but also through love, forgiveness, kindness, patience, and compassion toward others. A believer cannot claim to love God while walking in hatred, bitterness, or division against fellow believers.

Furthermore, our Lord Jesus commanded us to go and make disciples of all nations (Matt 28:19โ€“20). Every believer has been called to share the Gospel and point others to Christ. The Great Commission is not only for pastors, evangelists, or missionaries, but for the entire body of Christ. Obedience to God includes living as witnesses of His grace in our homes, workplaces, communities, and wherever God places us.

Beloved in the Lord, obedience to God is evidence of our love for Him. As we walk daily with Christ, may we continue to love one another sincerely and remain faithful in spreading the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world. Godโ€™s commandments are not burdensome because His grace sustains those who trust and follow Him.

Prayer Point:

Let us thank God for giving us His Word and the grace to obey Him. Let us ask the Lord Jesus Christ to help us love one another sincerely and empower us through the Holy Spirit to faithfully make disciples and share the Gospel with the world.

God bless you all.
