Producers make things. They work, they sell, and they get paid. That is normal. But as Christians, we know money must never become the goal. The moment profit becomes the aim of our work, that work turns profane. We do not serve Mammon — we serve the Lord, even in business. This is why Proverbs 16:8 says a little gained the right way is better than riches gained the wrong way.
This goes back to the beginning. When Adam and Eve tried to cover themselves, their own work was not enough. God Himself made them coats of skin (Genesis 3:21). Even then, the pattern was clear: what we make must follow God’s design, not just meet demand. A Christian farmer, manufacturer, or maker of any product carries that same duty — to produce after the heart of a God who truly covers and cares for people, not one who simply profits from their need.
We see what happens when this duty is ignored. Researchers at UC Berkeley and NBER studied Nestlé’s push to sell infant formula across poorer nations. They estimate it led to about 212,000 extra child deaths a year at its worst, in 1981 — mostly in homes without clean water, where the formula mixed with dirty water and made children sick instead of feeding them. The exact numbers can be debated, but the pattern is clear and painful. A product meant to help mothers and babies instead brought harm. It echoes an old evil — the killing of babies under Pharaoh, and again under Herod — where the innocent paid for someone else’s gain.
This is why Christian producers cannot stay on the sidelines. We are called to take our place in the marketplace — not just to make money, but so our businesses do good. We carry God’s purposes into every product we make and every deal we close. If believers walk away, someone else will fill that space — and they may not care who gets hurt.
And God rewards obedience. He told Israel not to farm the land every seventh year. That looked like a guaranteed loss. But God answered their obedience with abundance — blessing the sixth year’s harvest so it could feed them for three years, until the next crop came in. The God who calls us to obey Him as producers is also the God who can sustain us when we do.

1. Let us pray that in every industry and every nation, God would raise up producers after His own heart.
2. Let us pray that God would anoint producers to serve Him greatly through their work.
3. Let us pray that God would empower His producers and manufacturers wherever they are.
4. Let us ask Him to give producers, manufacturers, and their workers the wisdom they need — spiritual and practical — to serve well.
5. Let us ask Him to give us godly wisdom to navigate every economic crisis and hard condition ahead.
