But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. (1 Peter 5:10 KJV)
Adversity is one of those experiences as human beings that nobody plans for, yet almost everyone encounters. There are times when life becomes harder than we expected, doors close, plans fall apart, prayers seem unanswered, and situations arise that we begin to ask, Lord, how long?
In our opening scripture, Apostle Peter gives us a powerful assurance: “after that ye have suffered a while.” So, if you have ever found yourself in such a season, you are not alone. You must also know that there is hope because adversity is not the end of your story. The suffering has a time limit. It may be painful and exhausting, but it is not permanent. Sometimes we ask God to remove the pressure, while He is using that pressure to produce something in us. Just like gold is refined in fire, and strength is developed through resistance, some qualities that comfort cannot produce are formed in difficult seasons.
Think about a muscle. It becomes stronger when it encounters resistance. In the same way, your faith can grow stronger when it learns to trust God even when your circumstances give you reasons to doubt. This does not mean that your pain is insignificant or that you must pretend everything is fine. God sees the tears, the questions and the weariness in your soul. He is not asking you to deny what you are going through, but inviting you to trust Him in the middle of it.
The adversity you are facing today can become the platform upon which God establishes you tomorrow. What tried to break you can become part of the testimony that proves His faithfulness. David’s confidence in facing Goliath came from the challenging situations he had found himself in the past and conquered by the help of God. His difficult seasons were not wasted; God was working in him and moulding him for the next chapter of his life.
Therefore, do not interpret your present struggle as evidence that God has abandoned you. God may be preparing you for what your present capacity cannot yet sustain. The delay may be developing your character, the pressure may be deepening your faith, and the waiting may be preparing you for the responsibility attached to your next season. When adversity comes, keep praying. Keep believing. Keep obeying. Keep moving forward, even if you can only take one step at a time. Do not allow a difficult chapter to change the new one.

- Let’s pray for grace to stand during adversities and come out victorious.
