For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: โLove your neighbour as yourself.โ If you bite and devour each other, watch out or you will be destroyed by each other.
Galatians 5:14-15ย

Our Christian life is meant to be effortless if we would follow the commandments of God as well as His instructions. Letโs assume you own land which you are considering building on. Before you start with the procedure you would have to set up a structure. And this concludes laying a foundation, which will be fundamental in the constructional process. But thank God this is not the case for a believer in Christ. The foundation we need to build on has already been laid as the Bible highlights in 1 Corinthians 3:11, โFor no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ”.
What then do we need to live an effortless life? This can be seen in 2 Peter 1:3,โ His divine powerย has given usย everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.ย Indeed, everything we need He has given to us by His divine power but we still have a role to play in living that godly life which willย depend on our knowledge of God.ย ย
How then do we gain knowledge of God? The knowledge of God can be attained as we fellowship with the Holy Spirit. In 1 Corinthians 2:10,โ these are the things God has revealed to us by Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. In our scriptural verse for today`s Call to prayer, the word of God instructs us to love our neighbour just as we love ourselves. This is a commandment l used to struggle with the most, and l believe most people do so too. Most times, we choose whom we want to love and who is not deserving of our love but as believers, God demands that we love our neighbour whether they are serving of our love or not. If Jesus Christ could die for the just and the unjust due to the love of God for humanity we have the ability to do so too.
How do we then love? One question l used to ask God very often is how l could love my neighbour if l donโt even love myself that much? The first thing we have to know is we are spirit beings, though we live in a physical world. This is a truth we have to be very conscious of daily because there are lots of benefits attached to it.
Not acknowledging this truth will keep us in bondage. Jesus Christ came to set us free from sin and death that we may live according to Spirit. (Romans 8:2). The โLoveโ we ought to demonstrate towards our neighbour, therefore, comes not from our flesh or effort but this love flows through our heart as stated in Romans 5:5, โ…. because Godโs love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit…” The bible didnโt say your love but Gods love and this love is not yet to be poured into your heart, but He has already filled you and l abundantly with His Love toย GIVE IT BACKย to our neighbour. To receive this love we have to be intentional of the Holy Spirit in us so we might benefit from His gifts and also reap His fruits whichย includes Love,ย Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self- Control (1 Corinthians 3:16). This same love was the reason God didnโt spare his only begotten Son Jesus but gave him all up for us (John 3:16).ย For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son.ย If Jesus did not withhold the love of God from us by offering Himself as a sacrifice that we may live and have eternal life, who are we to withhold the love he has poured into our hearts from our neighbour. Jesus has blessed us to be a blessing, it’s time to release the overflow of Love in your hearts.
To conclude with: Loving your neighbour signifies you know Him. (1 John 4:8), proves you live in God (1 John 4:16), reveals that you live in the light (1 John1:9), and expresses your reverence towards God. Letโs be partakers of spreading the Love of God in a dark world. He has called us to be the light of the world but if we cease to express His love, we give the devil a gateway into our lives to cause destruction. Beloved children of God let’s be mindful of how we treat each other. Letโs not tear down one another but build with care on the foundation that has been laid which is Christ Jesus.
Love indeed covers a multitude of sins (1 Peter 4:8).
Prayer Point
Thank you, precious Holy Spirit, for revealing the heart of God to us today. Help the entire body of Christ to walk in Love just as you are Love. Grant us the grace to be conscious of the Holy Spirit in us that we may be obedient to your leading in Jesus name.
