God Has Called Us For His Glory

โ€žThat night the Lord said, โ€œGet up! Go down into the Midianite camp, for I have given you victory over them!โ€œ (Judges 7:9 NLT)

God can use anyone He pleases to show His power in the public. It really doesnโ€™t matter if you are old or young, educated or an illiterate. It really doesnโ€™t matter to Him. What really matters is your willingness and commitment to fulfill what He has appointed you to do. God is not a man that looks at the outward appearance but rather searches the heart of man, โ€žโ€ฆThe LORD doesnโ€™t see things the way you see them. People judge by outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heartโ€ (1 Sammuel 16:7 NLT).ย

We canโ€™t tell a God who qualifies that you arenโ€™t qualified because He qualifies the unqualified. God used David to kill Goliath though he had stronger looking brothers, Joseph was given wisdom to end the famine in Egypt, Esther became Queen to rescue the Israelites from exile.ย  God uses those whose circumstances donโ€™t approve them for such great tasks. Let me point this out to you, God doesnโ€™t care about how you see yourself and the situation around you, neither does He care about your excuses. ย

When we look at the story of Moses, we can see how much he argued with God just because he saw himself unfit for such a great task (His speech issues) and gave all the excuses but yet God insisted and used him for His own glory. The Prophet Jeremiah saw himself too young to be a prophet but still God made him to be His mouth piece. Gideon saw himself of no reputation to be called to lead the Israelites in Battle but yet God used Him to prove otherwise.ย

Apostle Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that, โ€žEach time he said, โ€œMy grace is all you need. My power works best in weakness.โ€ So now I am glad to boast about my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ can work through me.โ€œ God doesnโ€™t want us to boast in our ability but in His ability through us! In Judges 7:2, God told Gideon that, He was reducing the number of armed men because He didnโ€™t want Israel to boast and say that their own strength saved them. In the time of Gideon, God proved Himself mighty against the Midianites but for this to happen, He needed to mould Gideon in secret, help him build up his faith in Him and cloth Him in power (Judges 6:34). Gideon also had to be consistent in obeying and trusting God in everything he does (Judges 7:8).

Gideon understood the circumstances He was in and knew it wouldnโ€™t be possible to win the battle if He doesnโ€™t establish a strong foundation with God in secret. He needed to learn howย  to rely on the promises and abilities of God. We need to understand that itโ€™s not about us but rather about what God wants to do through us (Ephesians 2:9).

We all have a call ( Ephesians 2:10) and the truth is everyone wants to be called but not everyone wants to go through the process of what it means to be called. The reason is most of us arenโ€™t ready to be controlled by God. We mostly want to determine who and what God chooses. We need to understand that God doesnโ€™t need your opinion about what He wants to start with you. We are His masterpieces and He knows what we have though we canโ€™t see them. All we need to do is show our availability (Numbers 23:19).

Godโ€™s beloved, Gideon went on the battle field with just 300 armed men against 135,000 armed Midianites and won the battle. Letโ€™s show availability and willingness so that we can be consistent in the work of God. The end result is greater than the circumstances around us.ย

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His word today. Letโ€™s ask Him to help us not lose focus, and stay consistent in secret. Letโ€™s ask Him to also help us believe in His power.ย
