Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest. [36] And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together. (John 4:35-36 KJV)

As a young believer, after I gave my life to Christ, I wanted others to know about His love that I had found. So, personal evangelism was the main thing on my agenda and I will think of different means and strategies to present Christ to whoever I wanted to preach to. This was so that I could win everyone I spoke to. Unfortunately, l got disappointed sometimes and I would be unhappy because I couldnโ€™t achieve that which I had set out to do.

The Holy Spirit then opened my eyes to see from the parable of the sower in Mark 4 that the Word of God is primarily to be sown. This means that instead of only having the mindset of reaping into the kingdom, I have also been called to be a sower of the goodnews. In verse 20, we see the emphasis โ€œAnd these are they which are sown on good ground; such as hear the word, and receive it, and bring forth fruit, some thirtyfold, some sixty, and some a hundred.

For every seed of the word sown that falls on good ground, it shall be reaped in due season. Whether you are the reaper or not, just keep sowing because the Almighty rewards not only the reaper but the sower as well. For every heart that the Holy Spirit convicts, the word of God must have been sown before they come to repentance. Sometimes, we just need to preach and leave if they are not accepting Christ at that instant and trust the Holy Spirit to take over.

The Holy Spirit is always keen to convict the hearts of unbelievers but we have a duty as well to preach the word adopting both the sower and the reaperโ€™s approach. Every seed of the word sown is a blow on the wall of resistance built by the enemy on the hearts of many. If this continues, just a little push will bring it crumbling down and that soul will be saved for Christ.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank God for His word today. Lets ask God for the zeal to be a tireless sower of His word and also make us joyous reapers into His kingdom.

God bless you!
