Title: Wisdom One-The Fear Of The Lord
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge: but fools despise wisdom and instruction.
– Proverbs 1:7 KJV
The word of God teaches us that if we need wisdom, we should ask God and He will give it to us freely without finding fault (James 1:5). Based on this scripture, I have been praying for Wisdom for some time now because as Christians, we are supposed to pray with the word of God. One day, the Holy Spirit led me to spend regular time to study the book of Proverbs to become wise. I believe we need more wisdom in these end times in order to deal with all the deceptions of the evil one, make good judgements, and fulfill the Lordโs purpose for our lives.
It is written in Proverbs 9:10 that, the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding. Therefore, if we consider Proverbs 1:7 and Proverbs 9:10, we can conclude that the fear of God is the beginning of both knowledge and wisdom. Knowledge and Wisdom usually go together. Simply put, Knowledge is the information you have learned, while wisdom is the ability to use that knowledge in a profound way or to make good judgement.
It is important to note that this knowledge and wisdom is not that of this world but of God. This is because there many people in this world who do not fear God, but the world considers them knowledgeable and full of wisdom. The wisdom of God is different from the Wisdom of this world. The wisdom of God is only given to those who fear Him. So, one may ask, what does it mean to fear God?
There are two types of fear: Servile fear and Filial Fear. Servile fear is a fear of punishment, of hell, wrath, and damnation, which is the effect of the first work of the law upon the conscience. Filial fear supposes knowledge of God as a father, of his love and Grace in Christ, particularly of his forgiving love. It is a holy, humble, fiducial fear of God; a reverential affection for him, and devotion to Him. The fear of the Lord in the above verse is referring to filial fear. The foundation of true knowledge and wisdom is to honor and respect God, to live in awe of His power, and to obey His word.
It is important to note that, true knowledge is knowing and having a relationship with the true God and His only begotten Son Jesus Christ. This is what will matter in eternity and no amount of worldly knowledge can be compared to this. Every knowledge or wisdom which is not founded on the fear of God is vain, useless, empty, and unprofitable.
Beloved in the Lord, the wisdom of God is required in these end times to deal with all the deceptions of the evil one, make good judgements, and fulfill the Lordโs purpose for our lives. However, only those who fear Him will be able to receive this Wisdom.
Prayer Point:
Letโs thank God for the Gift of Salvation. Letโs pray for the Wisdom of God for all believers, knowing that the Lord gives freely without finding fault. Letโs also ask God to grant all believers the Grace to fear Him.
God bless you all
