Title: The New Creation

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.

– 2 Corinthians 5:17 NKJV

As I was waiting on the Lord, I received the word โ€œSpiritualโ€ for this month, and I donโ€™t think itโ€™s a coincidence that there are nine letters in the word, โ€œSpiritualโ€. I believe the Lord wants us to become more Spiritual and go deeper in Him because He has a lot in store for us. To be able to grow spiritually, we have to first know who we are when we come to Christ. The Scripture above and Ephesians 2:10 reveal to us that, we are created anew when we come to Christ.

There is a big difference between Christianity and the other Religions. I donโ€™t really like to call Christianity a Religion because it is more of a relationship. Religion gives a set of rules to follow for example, pray five times a day, donโ€™t eat Pork, donโ€™t shave your hair or beard, etc. God, who knows the state of mankind knew that giving us a set rules to follow wonโ€™t change us. This is because when man fell, we really fell deeply into sin; each sin leads to another sin. When one murders, another avenges, when one offends, another retaliates, and there are wars, bitterness, jealousy, envy, and endless evil in the world. The world is full of darkness, and the darkness deepens, and sin keeps on increasing.

When the woman who was caught in adultery was brought to Jesus, He said that anyone who is without sin should throw the first stone, and all the accusers left (John 8:1-12). This is because all the accusers were sinners. For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Rom. 3:23). Our Lord Jesus didnโ€™t condemn the woman but asked her not to sin anymore, and He immediately said,โ€ I am the light of the worldโ€. This means that the world is full of darkness and sin, but Jesus is the light; He brings forgiveness and mercy. So, God knowing that we are so much influenced and affected by sin decided to remove the burden by creating us anew in Christ.

Beloved in the Lord, if you accept Jesus as you Lord and personal savior, you are Born Again and become a new creature. The question is, do you change physically after becoming Born Again? Have all things really become new? Do you become taller or shorter afterwards? If you are not good at Mathematics, do you automatically become good at it? The answer to these questions is โ€œNoโ€. In John 3, Nicodemus was also confused about the concept of becoming Born Again and our Lord Jesus explained by saying, โ€œThat which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spiritโ€. This means itโ€™s the Spirit that is re-created when we become Born Again.

In order to understand this clearly, letโ€™s consider the Tripartite view of man; Man is a Spirit, has a Soul and lives in a body (1 Thess. 5:23). The Spirit is mostly referred to as the โ€œInner manโ€, the Soul is made of the mind, will and emotions, and the body is the earthly house for the Soul and Spirit. God who is a Trinity (Father, Son, Spirit) also made man in the same image. So, when one comes to Christ, itโ€™s the Spirit that is re-created and becomes new, but the body and soul remain the same. When we come to Christ, the Lord fulfills His promise in Ezekiel 36:26 by giving us a new heart (Spirit) and puts a new Spirit (Holy Spirit) within us.

Beloved in the Lord, if today you openly declare that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be Born Again. If you have already done so, know that you are a New Creation!

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Grace and Mercies and for giving us His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for our sins. Letโ€™s ask God for mercy for the world, that all will receive and accept Jesus as their Lord and personal savior.

God bless you all.
