And Esau seeing that the daughters of Canaan pleased not Isaac his father; [9] Then went Esau unto Ishmael, and took unto the wives which he had Mahalath the daughter of Ishmael Abraham’s son, the sister of Nebajoth, to be his wife. (Genesis 28:8-9 KJV)

Expressing discontent when outcomes or results does not favour us seems like an attitude that has always been attributed to man. Depending on how this is presented, it could either make or mar our relationship with the Father.

The first murderer recorded in the scripture, Cain was discontented because his sacrifice was not accepted whereas his brothers sacrifice was. He rebelled against Godโ€™s decision and went ahead to kill his brother just to show his bitterness and probably prove a point that God was wrong for not choosing him. It ended in a curse for him.

On the contrary, Job was recorded as one of the few men to go from a position of grace to grass, having lost all he had as the wealthiest man in the east including all his children. This is disheartening and there is probably no one on the face of the earth that will go through that experience and not contemplate suicide and blame God heavily with unpleasant utterances and actions. Yet, Job was steadfast and did not offend God with his mouth. He said in Job 13:15 โ€œ though he slay me, yet will I trust him…โ€. This attitude brought him into full restoration.

As children of God, when go through trials, temptations or tests, we must endeavour to stay with the truth which is the word of God in Psalm 30:5b โ€that weeping may endure for a night but joy comes in the morningโ€ and give no room to be led by the devil down the part of bitterness.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank God for the word today. Lets ask him to keep our heart right with Hum at all times and to guide the entire body of Christ away from bitterness.

God bless you !
