Then went Samson down, and his father and his mother, to Timnath, and came to the vineyards of Timnath: and, behold, a young lion roared against him. [6] And the Spirit of the Lord came mightily upon him, and he rent him as he would have rent a kid, and he had nothing in his hand: but he told not his father or his mother what he had done. (Judges 14:5-6 KJV)

The omnipotent God that we serve has a divine assignment for everyone He has created. As such, we have been built with latent capacities and gifts to carry out this mandate. Looking through our text today, Samson never knew he carried such grace or anointing until he was faced with that challenge and the Holy Spirit came on him. He did not only kill the lion, he tore it apart with his bare hands. That particular incident officially launched him into the deliverance ministry even though he had been separated from the womb for this purpose.

Also, when David was brought before King Saul at the battlefield to be interviewed whether he was able to fight Goliath, he shared his testimony that by the hand of God, he killed a lion and a bear as a shepherd boy and that was all the King needed to hear (1Samuel 17:32-37). Those two instances of valor became the building blocks for the delivery of Israel by God through the hand of David.

In both instances we have looked at, they were both willing to be used by God. So, the Holy Spirit had no hindrance with his operation in their lives. There are graces God has reserved for his children to manifest in but it requires willingness to fully enter into it.

Whatever assignment the almighty has called you into, He has also made available the capacity to fulfil it. It might look like it’s not there but with a willing heart, the gifts and grace are stirred up and activated by the Holy Spirit.

Let’s thank God for the word today. Let’s also ask God to give the body of Christ the spirit of meekness to be willing to be used of Him.
