Title: New Year Resolution-Part 3

Jesus replied, โ€œI tell you the truth, Peterโ€”this very night, before the rooster crows, you will deny three times that you even know me.โ€

We are on the topic, โ€œNew Year Resolutionโ€ and how our lives will be turned around if only we decide to make four commitments which God in His word encourages us to make. This is because our own commitments fail us before the year comes to an end. The first commitment was to โ€œForget about our failuresโ€. The second was to โ€œGive up our grudgesโ€. The third commitment I would like to share today is, โ€œRESTORE YOUR RELATIONSHIPSโ€.

God is love and He is asking us to check whether our personal relationships are working properly or not. God loves peace and unity, and from the beginning of creation, wanted all His creation to live together in peace and love with no separation, just as He is (Genesis 1:27).

โ€œIf possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyoneโ€ (Romans 12:18 Amp).

The scripture above shows how God issues this challenge. The important phrase in this verse is, โ€œas far as it depends on youโ€. God is personally challenging us Christians, His children, to do everything possible to restore lost or broken relationships. It could be that some of the lost or broken relationships werenโ€™t any of your fault but rather the other personโ€™s, and he/she might as well not want that relationship restored. To be clear, God knows all and thatโ€™s why He is saying, โ€œIf possibleโ€.

Nevertheless, the truth must be said, some of the lost relationships happened because of us or what we have done. If you know you have caused a rift in a relationship, then you have a responsibility to do everything you can to restore it. However, all this includes one difficult thing, asking for forgiveness. I can imagine how many broken relationships exist because one person refused to say, โ€œI am sorryโ€ or โ€œForgive meโ€.

I am certain, God is saying to some of you that this year is the right time to restore the relationships you have ruined by going forward, and sincerely say that you are sorry for those angry words or those selfish and unthoughtful actions.

Beloved in the Lord, make no mistake, it will be hard to do but one of the most significant things that you can do to mark the New Year is not to set off Fireworks but to admit your past errors in relationships and humbly seek forgiveness from the one you have hurt.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask Him to help us to restore our lost or broken relationships.

God bless you all.
