And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold,ย the Lion of the tribe of Judah,ย the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof. And I beheld, and, lo, in the midst of the throne and of the four beasts, and in the midst of the elders,ย stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits of God sent forth into all the earth.

(Rev 5:5-6 KJV)

The pattern of the creation of man was Jesus Christ Himself. What I mean by this is that, if you want to know what God had in mind when He saidย โ€œlet us make man in our image and likeness (Gen. 1:26)โ€,ย all you have to do is to look at Jesus, who is the express image of His person (Heb. 1:3). From what was written about Him, we can see balance in the way He manifested: His divinity was balanced by His humanity, His kingship was balanced by His servanthood, and His sovereignty was balanced by His submission to the will of the Father.

The identity of Jesus Christ is not defined by just an aspect of His being, but the totality of it. For example, many times we hear Jesus Christ call Himself the Son of God (John 10:36), and other times He calls Himself the Son of man (John 3:13). The identity He affirms at a particular time is determined by the function He is to fulfill, but it is by no means a denial of the other aspect of His being. For His assignment to be fulfilled, He had to manifest the entirety of His being.

For victory over the devil, Jesus had to manifest His multifaceted nature, yet whole the entire time. This can be observed from Revelations 5: 5 -6, where the Lion of the tribe of Judah that prevailed was the same Lamb that stood as one that had been slain (The Lion and the Lamb as used in this part of scriptures refers to the person of Jesus). Now, for Jesus to be the Lion that prevailed (that was victorious), He had to be the Lamb that died. Death and victory are like water and oil (they donโ€™t mix), but for us Christians to experience the victory that we have in Christ, we have to conform to the image of the Lamb that died.ย  ย

Lion symbolizes boldness and leadership, while a lamb symbolizes humility, and obedience (servanthood). One of the ways humility is expressed is by prayer (2Chro. 7:14). For you to stand boldly before the enemy and situations of life and prevail, you have to be one who has died to self in the place of prayer (Matt. 17:21). And for you to rise and function as a leader in the kingdom, you have to be one who has served and serves in the kingdom (Matt. 20:26).ย

Therefore, before you imitate the act of Jesus casting out devils, you also have to imitate His lifestyle of prayer. Again, just as you admire and aspire for the glory He manifested, you also have to accept the life of sacrifice that He lived.ย

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank Him for the word today. Letโ€™s also ask Him to help us to manifest His fullness and make us one with Him.ย
