In the lips of him that hath understanding wisdom is found: but a rod is for the back of him that is void of understanding.( Proverbs 10:13 KJV)

The amount of information we process daily is voluminous and may not profit us like we would have wanted it to. Even when we read the bible, we most times only remember a little portion of what we read afterwards. This is because, without understanding knowledge will be unfruitful. Knowledge is the โ€œhowโ€ while understanding is the โ€œwhyโ€. It is the reason of things and the purpose behind every assignment or endeavour. Understanding makes you see what is being said instead of just hearing it.

Even though the Ethiopian eunuch (Acts 8:26-35) was a devout man and was reading the book of prophet Isaiah, it didnโ€™t make sense to him until the Holy Spirit moved Philip to give him understanding that he was reading about the sacrifice of the messiah and when his eyes became open, he believed and received salvation. King Solomon put knowledge to its greatest use by subjecting it to understanding: โ€œI applied my heart to know, and to seek out wisdom and the reason of things…..โ€(Ecc. 7:25). It gives you a bigger picture and the essence why you are carrying out a certain task. For instance, we are all created for different purposes here on earth but if we can take time to seek out and understand why we are existing here in the first place, then we will begin to fulfil that unique purpose and maximise our destiny in Christ.

Our Lord Jesus shared a parable in Mark 4 about the sower and in verse 20, we see that the same word of God that fell on good ground separated people into different classes of profiting. Some thirtyfold, some sixtyfold and others, a hundredfold according to their depth of understanding in the word of God. As we journey in the knowledge of God, the word will constantly be flesh to us, tangible and touchable if we allow the Spirit of God to give us understanding and then, we will be equipped to carry the power of God for this generation.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank God for His word and letโ€™s pray that God will fill us up with the Spirit of understanding in the knowledge of Him so we can maximise His agenda for our lives.

God bless you!
