โ€œOf the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the LORD of hosts will perform this.โ€ – (Isaiah 9:7)

All the prophets despite their dedication and commitment to the service of God, have at some moment of their life exhibited the “human factor” which was apparently a sort of weak point. That however, significantly shortened God’s plan and vision in their life and some even had a diverted destiny, a clear example is Moses when he did not honor the command of God to strike the rock once and that hindered him from seeing the Land of promise. Other examples are Samson, King Saul, Balaam, Noah and Eli. Since then, God had promised mankind eternal relationship under a new covenant through prophesies about the coming Messiah by Isaiah and Jeremiah. Man waited for centuries for the birth of Jesus Christ as prophesied.

It was a long wait, according to the Lord Himself. Apostle Peter was also aware of this passionate expectation when he wrote of how the prophets โ€œsearched diligently…[for] what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should followโ€ (1 Peter 1:10,11).When the Messiah eventually appeared among men to fulfil the prophecies, manโ€™s joy knew no bounds. The doctrine He brought unfolded all what the Scriptures said of Him. He performed signs and wonders, and turned out to be the mighty God who healed the sick and stilled tempests. He became the everlasting Father to those orphaned by satanic afflictions. He is the Prince of peace who has ushered tranquility into a world under attack by hosts of hell.

Christโ€™s entry into the world is responsible for the incredible transformation man has experienced in his soul over the ages. What education, science and technology, philosophy, religion, wealth and wars have failed to achieve, faith in Jesus and His promises have achieved. Christโ€™s salvation, finally, opens the pearly gates of heaven for those who submit to Him. The world needs this great Personality, whose main mission is to make us like Himself so we can live with Him in heaven, the abode of His Father, with all the holy angels and saints.

Prayer point:

Let’s thank God today’s word. Let’s also ask Him to make us be like Jesus. That we should draw closer to Jesus as we consume His word in all forms.
