Title: A personal relationship with God

Hear, O Israel: The Lordย our God, theย Lord is one.ย Loveย theย Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. (Deuteronomy 6:4-5)

Jesus replied:ย โ€œโ€˜Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. (Mathew 22:37-38)

Before God created Eve He had said โ€œ… It is not good for man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for himโ€ (Genesis 2:18). When He finally created Eve, Adam saw her and said โ€œThis is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh, she shall be called โ€˜womanโ€™ for she was taken out of manโ€ (Genesis 2:23). I donโ€™t know if you can see it but I see excitement and love in every bit of the above sentence Adam made. Adam loved Eve. And perhaps even too much because he ate the forbidden fruit because Eve simply said so. Adam loved Eve because Eve came from him; He saw Eve as Himself. As an essence of Him. ย

Now letโ€™s go back to what God said before He created Adam and Eve. He said โ€œLet usย make mankindย in our image,ย in our likeness, โ€ฆโ€ (Genesis 1:26). God made us like Him. We are an essence of Him. No wonder He loves us so deeply just like Adam loves Eve. When He sees us, He sees himself, some mini gods roaming the earth, His children. (Psalm 82: 6 says I said, โ€˜You are โ€œgodsโ€;ย you are all sons of the Most High.”). God created us for relationship. God knows me and He wants me to know Him. God loves me and He wants me to love Him but as a gentle man He does not force Himself on me. The highest commandment(desire) of God (as we see in our opening verses) was in the Old Testament and is still today as repeated by Jesus, to love God completely. ย And He deserves that love from you and me. โ€œFor God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that who so ever believes Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.โ€ (1 John 3: 16), โ€œWe love Him because He first loved usโ€ (1 John 4:19). โ€œGreater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.โ€ … Has God not tried? Has He not loved enough? He not only created us but loves us. Why run from the one who loves you and only wishes to prosper you. โ€œFor I know the plansย I have for you,โ€ declares theย Lord, โ€œplans to prosperย you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.โ€ (Jeremiah 29:11)ย

Abraham was called a friend of God. David was called a man after the heart of God. What about me? Do I have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, the lover of my soul. Does His love mean something to me? Do I believe He really cares and is present in every situation or is He just a man who died about 2000 years ago for no reason and never came back to life. Let’s take time to question ourselves and challenge ourselves to move from religion or affiliation( I belong this christian or western religion.. I am modern or civilized)ย  into a relationship with a living God, a father in times of need and a friend in times of comfort and pain. A father you listen to and not only talk to. The one with whom we are to spend eternity with. It is a timeless relationship.ย

Prayer Point:ย

Let’s thank the almighty and loving God that we have being reminded again of His call to love Him too. We pray for the grace, wisdom, humility to walk before God and be thou perfect(Genesis 17:1), the grace to run back to His presence when we fall short.
