Title: Faithful and Wise Servant

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his master made ruler over his household, to give them food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master, when he comes, will find so doing. (Matthew 24:45-46 NKJV)

Are you a faithful servant? Are you a wise servant? If you ask any Believer these questions, the quickest response will always be, “Yes, I am”. However, what is the characteristics of a faithful and wise servant or how can one conclude that he/she is a faithful and wise servant? Our Lord Jesus provided the explanation to this question in the above scripture.

After telling His Disciples the signs of the End times, He went on to teach all Believers how we are supposed to live as we await His second coming (Matt 24). We must become faithful and wise servants. A faithful and wise servant is the one whom when given an Assignment by his Master, remains committed to fulfilling it even in his master’s absence (Matt 24:45-46).

The master here represents the Lord, and the servant represents all Believers. The Lord has given every Believer Assignments to fulfill in His Kingdom. God sent His only begotten son Jesus to pay the price of our sins so that we can have fellowship with Him and through the fellowship, we will know the good works He has planned for us and do them (Eph 2:10).

When we come to Jesus, He takes away our burden of sin and darkness and gives us His burden (lost souls). We all have a work to do! There are many souls to be saved and many people to help grow spiritually. We have to know that there are many general Assignments that the Lord has given to all Believers and there are also specific Assignments given specifically to every Believer. They are many different types of Assignments, and it’s not only about Soul-winning or helping others to grow spiritually.

The most important thing is knowing the Assignments the Lord has given you and being committed in fulfilling them. Let’s focus on the work and do it diligently, knowing that we shall all stand before the Lord and give account (2 Cor 5:10). Our Lord Jesus will definitely come again! Since we don’t know the exact time He will return, we have to always remain committed and consistent in our Work. Let’s not become reluctant or inconsistent so that His coming will not catch us unaware.

Beloved in the Lord, the Lord has given all Believers Assignments to accomplish on this earth until He returns. Since we don’t know when He returns, He expects us to become wise and faithful servants who always remain focused and committed in fulfilling their Assignments. When we do so, He will reward us greatly when He returns.

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask the Lord to help all Believers to remain faithful and fully committed to all our Assignments. Let’s also pray for Wisdom for all Believers knowing that the Lord gives freely without finding fault.
