Title: When the Spirit of God is in You

The Spirit of the Lord is upon Me, because He has anointed Me to preach the gospel to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovery of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed; ย (Luke 4:18 NKJV)

The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of Yahweh, the Holy one. In the Old Testament, the Spirit couldnโ€™t dwell within people because of sin. However, we could see that the Spirit came upon a few selected people and briefly empowered them to do some specific work. For example, we saw the Spirit on Balaam, Joshua, Othniel, Gideon, Jephthah, Samson, Saul, David, Isaiah, Ezekiel, Amasai, and Jahaziel (Num 24, Jug. 3,6,11,13, 1 Sam 10, Is 59, Eze 2:2, 1 Chr 12, 2 Chr 20:14).

The plan of God since creation is to fill the whole earth with His Glory. This plan didnโ€™t change even after man fell. To accomplish this, He must fill the whole earth with His Spirit, and He promised to pour His Spirit on all Flesh (Joel 2:28). However, there was one main obstacle to this plan: sin. Due to this, He sent His only begotten son Jesus Christ to deal with this obstacle so that those who believe in Him will become righteous and Holy according to His standards to be able to receive His Spirit (John 3:16-17, 2 Cor 5:21).

The good news now is that the Lord has poured His Spirit upon all flesh and His Spirit can now reside within His Children (those who believe in Christ Jesus as Lord and savior) (Acts 2, John 1:12, Eph 1:13, Rom 8:9-11, 1 Cor 3:16). When the Spirit of God is within you, He empowers you to live a special life and also do some work. Basic Science defines Power as the ability to do work. One of the abilities the Spirit gives us is the love and boldness to preach the Gospel (Acts 1:8).

To better understand this, letโ€™s look at the lives of some of the Apostles before and after being empowered by the Spirit. Peter before the Holy Spirit denied Christ out of fear and convinced the other disciples to go back fishing after Christ was crucified (Luke 22:54-62, John 21:3). Apostle Peter after being empowered by the Holy Spirit preached the Gospel with boldness and revealed a lot of mysteries in the Kingdom (Acts 2). As a result, about 3,000 people gave their lives to Christ on that day (Acts 2:41).

Apostle Paul, before the Holy Spirit, persecuted the Church and was even on His way to Damascus to get more authority to fight the Church when he encountered the Lord (Acts 9). After being empowered by the Spirit, he dedicated his whole life to preaching the Gospel and contributed enormously to the Building of the Church (Acts 9-28).

Beloved in the Lord, the Lord has poured His Spirit on all flesh as He promised and His Spirit now dwells within all who believe in Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit gives one the love and boldness to preach the Gospel. Letโ€™s, therefore, be sensitive and obedient to the Holy Spirit knowing that those who are led by the Spirit, they are the sons of God (Rom 8:14).

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s pray for the Will of God to be done on earth as it is in Heaven. Letโ€™s ask the Lord to give all Believers the love and boldness to preach the Gospel.

God bless you all
