In yesterday’s write-up, I revealed that obedience is the work we need to do for the glory of God in our lives to be manifested. The idea of work is one to be considered carefully, as we have transitioned to the New Covenant which is based on faith.

When we obey the instructions of God, it’s as though we are building our houses on a rock. This was indicated by Jesus Christ when He said: “Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock” (Matt. 7:24 NIV). As the building of the tabernacle by Moses and the temple by Solomon, the glory of God manifests in our lives when the house is complete; when our obedience is complete (2. Cor. 10:6, Exo. 40:33, 2 Chro. 7:1). However, there is a provision of grace in the new covenant to help in this process, as by ourselves, we cannot obey God’s instructions.

Apostle Paul indicated the availability of this grace when he exclaimed: “I worked harder than them all – yet not I, but the grace of God that was with me (1Cor. 15:10b NIV)”. Therefore, by the grace of God, Apostle Paul did the work that made him manifest as the greatest Apostle in his dispensation. In another of Paul’s speech, the way to this grace was revealed: But before I mention, let’s consider another way the Bible revealed that we can build our spiritual houses, that is, our lives.

In Jude 1:20, the Bible says “But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit”. By praying in the Holy Spirit, we are building our spiritual houses, accomplishing the same thing Jesus Christ said we are achieving when we do His instructions (Matt. 7:24). The spirit of prayer is the spirit of grace, this was indicated in Zachariah 12:10, where God says “And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication (prayer)”. Therefore, the more time we spend praying (in tongues), the more grace is available for us to do the work (obedience to His instructions) (1Cor. 15:10b)

As I mentioned above, Apostle Paul indicated the way He obtained the grace to do the work that made Him manifest as the greatest Apostle in His day. He said in 1 Corinthians 14:18: “I thank God that I speak in tongues more than all of you.” The reason he could work more than others was that he prayed in tongues more than the others. The Lord is reawakening this truth in the body of Christ again, as we are in the time of the greatest move of the Holy Spirit. Ensure you utilize the gift of tongues today!

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us to spend time praying in tongues, so His glory will be manifested in our lives.
