And David said unto Nathan, I have sinned against the Lord. And Nathan said unto David, The Lord also hath put away thy sin; thou shalt not die. [14] Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the Lord to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die.(2 Samuel 12:13-14 KJV)

The story of the contention of Moses’s body after his death illustrates the gravity of what goes on in the kingdom of darkness when a child of God is found in disobedience or sin (Jude 1:9). Many times, these acts are done secretly, sometimes without people knowing and it looks covered in the physical but in the spiritual realm, it is as open as daylight.

David had sinned by sleeping with Uriahโ€™s wife and still killed her husband. Although done in secret, it was opened before the Lord and it wasnโ€™t the Lord alone that knew it, the enemies of the Lord also knew. David had given legitimacy to the adversaries to bring the Lordโ€™s name to disrepute. Therefore, that which looked like a blessing in his hand had to die(2Sam. 12:14).

Whenever we engage in disobedience or secret sin, thinking nobody knows, we are actually bringing shame to the name of the Lord and giving license to the enemy to accuse us and ultimately invade so he can do what he knows how to do best: kill, steal and destroy. This is how great destinies have been destroyed and many gifts and talent which the Lord had given never gets to the stage of manifestation in the lives of the recipients because those gifts had to die. Many people have also died physically as a result of this.

If we reflect on the things we do, does it give room for the enemy to blaspheme? Because this paves the way for losses that may only take the mercies of God to recover. Righteous living preserves the heritage of God in our lives.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank God for today. Let us ask Him for grace to continue to stand and never give any place to the adversary.

God bless you!
