Title: The body of Christ

”Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ”ย 1 Corinthians 12:12
The body of Christ is also referred to as ”church”. It is though not a literal understanding of a physical building or some decorated edifice with a pleasant appearance as many people wrongly assume. The church is rather a spiritual territory where only those who have obtained spiritual authorization can have access to it. The Church of Christ is not denominational as many people ascribe it, it is not associated or affiliated with a name but an experience that resulted from a personal encounter by Faith. Performing religious rituals, and festivities, upholding denominational doctrines and defending traditions or concepts outside the Scripture do not make one a member of the body of Christ except by a spiritual rebirth (salvation) through faith.
Now, concerning the body of Christ, Paul the apostle by the inspiration of the Holy Ghost illustrated how the body of Christ functions by using the organized human body as an example. As we are aware that although our natural body functions as one, it, however, carries different members which are the organs like the eyes, ears, hands, and legs that perform different unique roles by working together in unity to have one objective, and the objective is that the body lives in good health and thereby grow into maturity. The eye does not envy the mouth but respects and focuses on its role. The hand can not say because I perform the essential role of carrying out physical actions therefore I am more important than the nose (1 Corinthians 12:12). Even though all the members have different roles, they all work in unity to achieve one goal.
In the body of Christ, God himself hath set some to be Apostles, some Prophets, some teachers, some workers of miracles, some diversities of tongues, some helpers, some governments (1 Corinthians 12:28) as it pleased Him. As a member of His body, you must not be a prophet before you can contribute greatly. Also, you must not be the head Pastor or lead singer before you can be a central figure or essential contributor. Everything you do in accordance with your role given by the Holy Spirit, do it with all diligence. Be faithful and committed by working on that gift given to you regardless of its size. In addition, not all will be Apostles, not all will be teachers, not all will speak in tongues, not all will be Evangelists, not all will interpret tongues, and not all will be healers (1 Corinthians 12:29-30). Don’t envy or be too selfish that miracles or great things must come from you or your church denomination before you glorify God. The body of Christ is one, thus united as the Father is in the Son and the Son is in the Father, so also the church in Christ ought to be ((John 17-21-26).
