Title: God is not Slow

The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. ย (2 Peter 3:9 NKJV)

There is a famous saying in one local Ghanaian language, โ€œwhen God takes His Stone, He doesnโ€™t throw it very fast.โ€ In other words, most people believe that God is always slow to act or react. We are living in a Time where we want everything to go faster. We want fast delivery, fast food, fast cars, and quick money.

We are also living in a wicked world where most people donโ€™t fear and respect God. Most people here in Europe donโ€™t want to have anything to do with the Lord. The youth also donโ€™t have enough patience to wait for the promise of God because they are used to fast things. They donโ€™t want to go through the process. Thatโ€™s why People choose to go to Voodoo Priest for quick solutions. Some are also ready to do anything to get money. They can even kill their friend or family member for money rituals (1 Tim 6:10).

Considering the current nature of this world, it seems the wicked are thriving and enjoying while the righteous are oppressed and suffering. So, is God really slow to act or react as most people claim? Apostle Peter has provided an answer to this question in the above Scripture. The truth is that God is not slow in fulfilling His promise or administering justice to the wicked. He has set Time for everything, and He works in His own Time, which is mostly different from our Time (Eccl 3). He is the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords and so he does everything according to His own Will, taking into consideration the best interest of His people.

For the wicked, the Lord is just patient towards them. He doesnโ€™t rejoice in the death of a Sinner and thatโ€™s why He sent His only begotten son to pay the price of our sins even when we were still Sinners (Rom 5:8). He has just given them some time to repent and at His appointed time, He will judge these evil people and the world (2 Peter 2:9). If you study the Bible, you will find out that the Lord knows how to reward good people and punish evil.

In the Book of Esther, we saw that Haman did a lot of evil to Mordecai and the Jews but in the end, he was executed, and Mordecai was promoted. In Noahโ€™s Time, the people were feasting, partying, and doing evil things and didnโ€™t heed to Noahโ€™s message until the flood came. This is exactly what this current Generation is doing. This doesnโ€™t surprise me because the history of the world should tell us that humans donโ€™t learn from the past. If we did, there wouldnโ€™t have been a World War II after all the death and destruction that World War I brought.

Beloved in the Lord, God is not slow to act or react, but He is patient and has set Time for everything. At His appointed Time, we will see the manifestation of His promise. At His appointed Time, we will see the wicked receive the punishment they deserve. Knowing this, letโ€™s continue to trust and remain faithful to the Lord till the end. He is still the same God yesterday, today, and forever.

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. ย Letโ€™s pray for the salvation of the Souls of all unbelievers around the world. Letโ€™s ask the Lord to remove any mindset that, โ€œHe is slow to act or reactโ€ from the minds of all believers.

God bless you all
