The devil and the angels who serve him also known as demons are able to manifest some power. They are probably able to heal, prophecy, and do other mystics. Sometimes you hear stories( and there are people who have actually witnessed these things) of priests to some deities who have held back rain from falling and many other mystical occurrences. One question may begin to creep into your mind; who is greater? You may have assumptions like the power that is manifested through the name of Jesus can also be manifested by the devil. To an extent this is true, and this is one of the reasons why we are not to discern prophets by signs and wonders but rather by their fruits. (Mathew 7:15-20). However, we also see from the scriptures that many times if not all the time when God manifests, He does it big!. In a way that you know that this can only be God.
When Jesus healed the man who was born blind and some of the Pharisees were trying to force their unbelief on him, one of the things he retorted to them was “Since the beginning of time it has never been heard that anyone opened the eyes of a person born blind” (John 9:32).
To make someone who became blind later in their life see is one thing; to make one who was born blind start seeing? That’s another level of power!
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were thrown into a pit of fire that was so hot that it burned the guards who threw them in, yet they came out of that fire without a single strand of hair being burnt or the smell of smoke on them. This forced Nebuchadnezzar to confess this “…There is no other god who can rescue like this.” (Daniel 3:29) Nebuchadnezzar was king of Babylon at a time when Babylon had conquered almost the whole world. This means Nebuchadnezzar knew all the so-called gods but he had to make that acknowledgment.
When Moses started performing signs and wonders by the power of God in Egypt, Pharaoh’s magicians would replicate it; Pharaoh felt proud and will not yield to Moses’s request. Moses turned the staff into a snake; they did it. He turned water to blood; they did it. He made frogs come out of the water; they did it. By the 3rd plague, Moses turned the dust of the earth into gnats. The magicians could not. They were forced to testify to Pharaoh saying “This is the finger of God …” (Exodus 8:19)
Brothers and Sisters in Christ we are not serving a god; We are serving the one and only God. (Isaiah 45:5). We are on the winning side. He is the source of all power. I rather am an enemy of a created than of the Creator. If you are an enemy of God who can protect you from God’s wrath? Fear God above every man or spirit! But if the Lord is on your side who can be against you? Even if the Lord delivers you into a suffering(trial) it is certain to last for just a while and work out for your good. (1Peter 5:10)
Prayer Point:
Let’s pray for the wisdom and grace to fear God rather than the devil or man.
