And he said, โ€œPlease, show me Your glory.โ€ย Exodus 33:18 NKJV

ย

We were created to be two-dimensional beings, as we were made to function in both the natural and spiritual realms. When Adam fell, the first change He noticed was the loss of spiritual insight into things (Gen. 3:11), as he became spiritually blind. It is God’s will for everyone one of His children to regain access to see and hear in the spirit, and the way to it has been revealed.

There are several realms in the spirit.ย  Not every realm is actually God’s realm, for there are fallen Angels whose activities are done in certain realms. In our quest to see and hear in the spirit, we must make sure that the realms we are seeing and hearing from is actually God’s realm (that is, the realm of His glory). Moses’s interaction with the Lord in Exo. 33 revealed the procedure for accessing the realm of His glory. The first thing to do to access the realm of God’s glory is “asking”. Moses specifically requested that the Lord show him His glory (Exo. 33:18). Note, Moses did not just ask to see, he asked to see His glory. The spiritual eyes of many are open, but not all have the privilege to see His glory.

After Moses requested to see God’s glory, the next thing God did was to show him a location near him, a rock, where Moses was to stand (Exo. 33:21). That rock is a symbol of Christ (1Cor. 10:4). The interpretation of this is that we should have our foundation on the word because from that position we are to judge and seek to understand all we see and hear in the spirit. Many have missed this important part and swayed into error because they lacked the understanding of what they are being shown. We can avoid that error by spending time in the word to gain insight.

Finally, the way we respond to God’s word determines what benefits we gain and how much He will reveal to us. Moses’s response to the revelation of God’s goodness was intercession: He interceded for the children of Israel (Exo. 34:8-9). Note, this act of his was not requested by the Lord, but he took advantage of the revelation of God’s goodness, expressed in His declaration of his merciful and forgiving nature, to intercede for Israel. God was so pleased by his actions that He made a promise to use him to do marvels (Exo. 34:10).

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to open our eyes to see His glory. That He should help us spend time in His word so our foundation will be set on the word. And He should help us respond appropriately to what He shows us.
