Title: The Joy of The Lord

You have given me greater joy than those who have abundant harvests of grain and new wine.

What gives you Joy in this life? In other words, what is the main source of your Joy? Do you find your Joy in earthly things or do you find your Joy in the Lord? As Christians, it is very important to make the Lord the main source of our Joy. This is because earthly things are temporal and are mostly destroyed or fade away with time; they do not last. Which means if your Joy is based on earthly things, it will also be temporal. However, if the Lord is the source of your Joy, your Joy will be everlasting because the Lord our God is eternal; He lives forever (Ps 102:12, Rev 1:8).

Sadly, most people including Believers worry so much about their needs, expectations, trials, and difficulties, and this takes away their Joy (Matt 6:25,31). We have to know that the Lord has set time for all the trials we are experiencing. Letโ€™s therefore patiently wait for His appointed time and trust Him to fulfill His promise. Concerning our needs, the truth is that they will never cease. So far as we are humans living on this earth, we will always need something.

Are you saying that if you donโ€™t get what you are looking for, you will not be joyful? Then Iโ€™m sorry to disappoint you that you will always be sad. You will always need or expect something. For example, when you are young, your main need will be to pass your Exam and graduate with good Grades. After School, you may need a Job and afterwards, you may need a husband or a wife.

After marriage, you may need children, you may want to work your way up on the corporate ladder for a promotion, and so on and so forth. The needs never stop! Also, we can lose all these earthly things and achievements at any time. You can lose your husband, wife, children, Job, promotion, and wealth at any time. Therefore, donโ€™t let your Joy be dependent on the things in this world.

As Christians, we have to be joyful in the Lord. Personally, I believe one thing which should always give us Joy is the Gift of Salvation we have received from the Lord (Ps 51:12). We have been saved from eternal pain, torment, destruction, and damnation (John 3:16). We have been brought into the Kingdom of Light with all its glorious riches and Inheritance, and the hope of eternal Life in Joy and happiness with the Lord (Col 1:13).

Nothing on this earth can be compared to this (Mark 8:36). You have been chosen and should therefore be always joyful. We should also be Joyful because we have a heavenly Father who is mighty, loves us and is capable of delivering us from all our troubles.

Beloved in the Lord, earthly things are temporal and fade away with time. So will your Joy be if it is based on them. However, if we want to enjoy true and everlasting Joy, we have to make the Lord, the Eternal God, the main source of our Joy. Letโ€™s go and experience true Joy and happiness in the Lord!

Prayer Point:

Letโ€™s thank God for His Word today. Letโ€™s ask the Lord to help all Believers to make Him the main source of our Joy.

God bless you all
