Title: Perseverance
By: Daniel Peter
Date: 07.06.2023
My brethren, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord, as an example of suffering and patience. Indeed we count them blessed who endure. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lordโthat the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.ย James 5:10โญ-โฌ11 NKJV
It is God’s will for us to manifest His glory. The word glory as used in the New Testament is from the Greek word ‘Doxa’, which means, all that God is and all that God has. The glory of God is revealed in three distinct areas: Character, Power, and Prosperity. In John 17:22, we read how Jesus said He has given His disciples His glory. Therefore, in each believer is the glory of God we are mandated to manifest.
The most important area of the glory of God is His character. This is easy to see as the devil can manifest power and prosperity but not the character of God. Again, in the last days, those who manifest power and not the fruit of the Spirit (character) will be rejected by Him as He doesn’t know them. The means for us to manifest His glory is sharing in the sufferings of Christ, for he said “… if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together (Rom. 5:17KJV)”. So, when God gives us the opportunity to share in the sufferings of Christ, He is giving us the opportunity to manifest His glory.
For your trials or suffering to produce glory, you have to continue in the practice of righteousness despite the hardness of the situation you are enduring. This is what is called perseverance, and it is what the life of Job exemplifies. For despite his sickness, He spoke rightly about God, even more than his friends (Job. 42:7). This was how God’s people in scriptures lived; they trusted God by obeying Him even in difficult situations, and their righteous identities were revealed.
As we face the vicissitudes of life, let’s persevere, knowing it’s benefits.
