Call to Prayer
Title: Rising with the Storm

When men are cast down, then thou shalt say, There is lifting up; and he shall save the humble person. Job 22:29 KJV
In my last contribution to the call to prayer, I mentioned how everyone one’s work will be tried for what nature it is. When Jesus was speaking in Matthew 7:25,27, He said “the rain, the flood, and the wind” will beat against our spiritual houses to see in what foundation it is resting on. Though the storm will drown others, God expects His children to rise with the storm.
When He judged the earth by sending rain (flood) in the days of Noah, the same flood that drowned others, elevated those that were in Noah’s ark. At the passing of the flood, the ark of Noah was resting on the top of Mount Ararat, many meters above the earth. The storms of life are opportunities for the children of God to rise. This was proven true in the life of Apostle Paul, when He was being taken to Rome for trials as recorded in Acts 27. Initially, he was despised by the centurion as his words were rejected when he told the men in the ship that there will be disaster (Acts. 27:10). As the Journey continued, His words were proven true, and through his counsel the people in the ship were delivered. From being a mere prisoner at the start of the Journey to being the one whose words were heeded to by the centurion and was considered a God at Malta (Acts 28:6). Paul was elevated by the storm and others were saved because of him.
Now, how do we rise by the storm? Both Noah and Apostle Paul were men of the presence; they lived in constant awareness of the presence of God. Due to their awareness of God, they acted by faith by obeying what they heard from God. Noah built an ark at a time when there were no rain, and Apostle Paul shared what He discerned of the trip at a time when the sailors couldn’t detect. Though they were mocked and despised for their faith, it became the reason for their rising. Any time we choose to be obedient to the voice of God, we position ourselves to be elevated. Though Noah and Paul acted before the storm, their obedience to the voice of God continued in the storm. Paul shared the encounter He had with the Angel and acted by revealing the evil plot of the sailors to desert the ship (Acts 27:23-26, 30-32). This was also true for Joseph, who continued to interpret dreams in the prison until He rose (Genesis 41: 1-36).
As you keep being faithful in the time of life’s trials, the storm that drowns others will lift you up.
Prayer Point:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us to be conscious of Him at all times and be obedient to His voice.ย
