Title: The Lord will provide

So Abraham called that place The Lord Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the Lord it will be provided.” Genesis 22: 14 

In Genesis 22:7-8, we see Abraham was on his way up to sacrifice his son and his son asked where the sacrifice was. Abraham was probably trying to lie but instead he spoke words of faith, in other words, the Lord spoke through him; He said, “God himself will provide …”. We see in the end that the lord indeed provided which confirms that the response Abraham gave Isaac was not his but the Lord’s, inspired by faith. Indeed, the lord will always provide for those who trust in Him (Mathew 6:25-30). 

There are times when we get into desperate situations, and they say that desperate situations call for desperate measures. But let’s never forget that God is still alive, and He is our provider. For instance, imagine I steal money to pay for the bill of my loved one who is critically ill. In this case it means I believe that God’s hand is too short to help me so I must commit sin to help myself. On the other hand, imagine I don’t steal money and my loved one dies. Does it mean the Lord has not provided? What if it is in the best interest for the loved one to die? God’s ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:8). Death is not the worst thing we know. It is going to hell. So sometimes death may be an expression of God’s mercy.  

There are also times the Lord would ask us specifically to give from our little as He did in the encounter between the widow and prophet Elijah in 1 Kings 17:7-16, however, He assures us that he will replenish it a hundred folds if it is done for His sake (Mathew 19:29). 

The Lord is our provider, but it requires us to trust in His providence to get the best of Him. I am by no means saying we should be lazy because God will sometimes provide the means instead of ready made solutions so that you utilize it. It does not still cancel the fact that God can provide miraculously. So however He does it, He will provide. 

Prayer Point:  

Let’s pray for the grace to trust in the Lord’s providence and not fall into temptation of sin in the name of being desperate. Also pray for the grace to trust in the Lord’s ability to replenish what we give in His name.
