And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand. John 10: 27-28ย
ย
Some few weeksย ago we had a discussion in our โLetโs Discuss The Wordโ group on the topic โCan you lose your salvation?โ and we all unanimously concluded that based on scriptural evidence like Hebrews 10:26-31 and other warnings in the bible, you can lose it. It is possible that this statement inspires someone who is saved to live in fear of losing their salvation in order words going to hell. My stand remains but I would like to rephrase it more appropriately like this: โYou cannot lose you salvation, but you can give it upโ. ย
When someone says โloseโ it usually means it was unwillingly taken from them. Like when someone says โI lost my phoneโ what comes to mind is, it was stolen, or he or she misplaced it. But salvation is not something you lose by accident or that the devil comes and just steals from you. You yourself, you consciously denounce Christ and give it up. It is deliberate!ย
When you accepted Jesus, you becameย earmarked(selected) for heaven (John 3:16, Ephesians 1:13-14), so it almost like you entered heaven (John 17:3 ). You now have access to heavenly resources. The Holy spirit comes upon you. Angels surround you. You hear God (John 10:27). Therefore,ย a Christian is not working to enter heaven; that entry ticket was already bought and given to you by Christ through his death on the cross (Ephesians 2:8-10).ย
What then is a Christian working (doing good deeds) for? The Christian is working (by Godโs grace) because of his new nature in Christ and secondly because of the rewards both in this life and in heaven (Romans 2:6, Proverbs 11:31). If you have not accepted Jesus Christ and become a citizenย of heaven it means any good works you do are rewarded only here on earth. How can you be rewarded in heaven when you are outside heaven?ย
God is holy and it is impossible to see God without holiness (Hebrews 12:14). So even after receiving salvation, when we again fall into sin, we return to God by asking for mercy through Jesus Christ whose blood purifies us (1 John 1:7-9). ย
A key therefore is asking for mercy; humility. If you deliberately continue in sin, it hardens your heart and at some point, you will denounce Jesus our salvation by your words and deeds. Therefore, the only person that can come between you and God’s love; is YOU; your pride (Romans 8:35-39). ย

Prayer Pointย
Letโs thank God for the word. Letโs pray for the deliverance of those living under the ignorance or deceptionย or fear of working to become worthy of heaven for we enter through the blood of the Lamb (Jesus).ย
