The Dwelling Place of Peace

Call To Prayerย

Title: The Dwelling Place of Peace.

โ€œI have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.โ€ John 16:33 NIV

With the rise in crime rate, rumours of wars, and even the scare of alien invasion, the natural world isn’t a safe place to be. This reality isn’t a new occurrence, it has been ever since the fall of Adam; Abel wasn’t safe despite it was just he and his brother in the world (apart from their parents), and let’s not forget the act of Lamech (Gen. 4:23-24). Again, what would sum the evil in the world from the fall of Adam is the statement: “The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the human race had become on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time (Gen. 6:5 NIV)”.ย

The earth is not the location of peace. In fact, at the fall of the devil, God declared “Woe to the inhabiters of the earth and of the sea! for the devil is come down unto you, having great wrath, because he knoweth that he hath but a short time (Rev. 12:12 KJV)”. Now, today’s Call to Prayer is not to reveal the evil and restlessness in the world, but to reveal the location where peace dwells and how to access it. Jesus Christ is that location, for He said to His disciples, “… in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world (Rev. 12:12)“.

The location called Christ is a location that is accessed by faith. As we live in constant awareness of His presence and Communion with Him as one present, we are in Him. Living in this manner shields us from the evil in this world. To see this, let’s consider the experience of Apostle Paul in the ship sailing to Rome as recorded in Acts 27. When the ship and the people in it were in turmoil, Apostle Paul was at rest. Though in the natural they were in the same boat, Apostle Paul was located somewhere else in the spirit, and His spiritual location affected how he saw and responded to the situation he was in. When the others, sailors and men of war, were scared of their life, Apostle Paul rose as a voice of hope, and said to them “Last night an angel came to me and told me that not one person on this ship will be lost” (Acts. 27:23).

Where are you located? Because you are born again doesn’t mean you are always in that location. We must be active in ensuring that we are always conscious of Him and are sensitive to hear His voice. Intimating with Him moment by moment is the key of access to this dimension.

Prayer Point.

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us be dwellers of His presence.
