Title: Taking care of the body

Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well. (3 John 2).
The scripture makes us aware that Man is tripartite in nature; meaning that he is made up of spirit, soul and the body (1 Thessalonians 5:23). It is therefore crucial to note that, each of the entity has a role to play for man to be completely aligned to God’s will. The body is the outermost layer that supports physical activities, thus it is a vessel through which God lives in Man. Despite the degeneration of the body by the unfortunate fall of man (Generation 3:1-24), sin also infiltrates the body thereby making it unacceptable for God to reside in. However, God in His infinite wisdom made a provision through Christ so that the body will be washed and sanctified by the water of the word (Ephesians 5:26-27), so that He will perfect it to be a temple/sanctuary of the Holy Spirit (1 Corinthians 6:19).
The body needs to be well taken care of. The purpose of studying the scriptures is for us to learn or get new revelations but most importantly, we need to apply them in order to grow to the perfection required of us. it is important as believers that we observe good hygiene. We have to regularly bath, brush our teeth, rest when we are tired, drink a lot of water and apply nice creams or perfumes to smell good. More so, we need to watch what we eat even though all things are sanctified by the word of God and prayer ( Timothy 4:4-5), nonetheless, we should not tempt God by eating anything we see that is eatable despite being aware of their possible detrimental health effects to our system. Today we see bankruptcy and gaps in application of the word of God among brethren, some spirit-filled believers feel wearing perfume or smelling good is worldliness and feel those things are not for them.
We need to understand the jurisdiction of the blood of Jesus. The blood of Jesus Christ washes away our sins, our condemnation and speaks of mercy but does not cover body odour neither does it override mouth odour.ย Many have misunderstood the difference between crucifying the flesh with worldliness. They justify dirtiness and unkempt lifestyle as a way of subjecting the flesh to the word of God. My brethren, the essence of having the complete scripture is that we become perfect as keep learning and practicing every aspect (2 Timothy 3:16-17). If we are praying and fasting, we should take much water with fruits, vegetables and some vitamins to replenish the lost nutrients. Observing regular hygiene and eating right makes us healthy to do the work of God. We should not intentionally sell ourselves to the ignorance that eating poor or exhausting ourselves is a godly way of crucifying the flesh.
Prayer point
Let’s us thank God for the word and also ask Him to help us observe safety hygiene for our general health.
