โ€œDo not think that I have come to bring peace to the earth.ย I have not come to bring peace, but a sword.ย 35ย For I have comeย to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Mathew 10: 34ย

ย

In Christ we are peacemakers, but we are also troublemakers. Although, you may perceive it at first glance as wrongย but with some explanation hopefully you will see that we are also troublemakers. ย

As peacemakers we are at peace within us, and we promote peace with all men as long as it depends on us (Romans 12: 18, Hebrews 12:14). We donโ€™t fuel conflicts but encourage peaceful resolutions among others. However, we give unbiased judgements (Leviticus 19:15). We forgive and let go at times for the sake of peace (I say at times because it is also Godly to speak up or address certain unfair treatments other times). We practice self-control by speaking gently which helps calm the anger of others (Proverbs 15:1). We admit our mistakes and apologize before any justifications on our part. And not the other way round or just giving justifications and excuses. May God help of us !ย

After all these peace-making endeavours there will still be times where our obedience to God will mean trouble to some, thereby getting the name troublemaker. You respectfully disobey your parent and are called a stubborn child when their request is contrary to the instruction of God. You are in an office, and you donโ€™t accept bribe where everyone else does; colleagues would say you are spoiling the business. ย Jesus caused trouble for the money changers in the temple by turning down their tables because they were desecrating the temple (Mathew 21:12-13). Jesus spoke out against the Pharisees when He needed to address the truth (Mathew 23). The Pharisees might have called him troublemaker for this.ย

So indeed, we are peacemakers, but we also cause trouble to the wicked by standing up for the truth and obeying the will of God. So, letโ€™s not misinterpret peace-making to mean we are always silent or allow evildoers to perpetrate evil.ย

ย

Prayer Point:ย

Letโ€™s thank God for the word. Let’s pray for the grace to fear God above men and not beย accomplices to evil doers by remaining silent in the face of evil.ย
