Title: True Worship and Praise
Let everything that has breath praise the Lord. Praise the Lord!ย (Psalms 150:1-6 NKJV)
ย
In the Chapter four of the Book of Revelation, it was revealed to John the kind of worship that goes on in Heaven. He saw the Lord God Almighty seated on His throne and twenty-four elders with their individual thrones surrounding the Lord. In the center and around the throne were four living creatures, each covered with eyes, front and back. ย The Bible says they do not rest day or night, saying โholy, holy, holy, Lord God Almightyโฆโ and then the twenty-four elders will bow and cast their crowns before the Lord and worship Him (Rev 4).
Do you have breath? Are you alive? If yes, then you have to worship and praise the Lord. Letโs worship the Lord for who He is; holy, love, powerful, Almighty, creator of the universe, our maker, savior and redeemer. ย Letโs praise the Lord for what He has done, for what He is doing and for what He has promised to do.
If not for any reason, just think about His protection from January to December. If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, the evil one and his agents would have crushed us (Ps 124). Also, letโs think about His Mercy and Grace and His free gift of Salvation when we were still sinners (Jn 3:16, Rom 5:8). We were on our way to eternal damnation and destruction, but He rescued us.
In order to offer true worship and praise to the Lord, it is very important to know who you are worshipping. To whom are you offering your worship and praise? To an unknown god? The people in Athens were offering their worship to an โunknown godโ until Apostle Paul came and introduced the true God who created the heavens and the earth to them (Acts 17:23). Do you know the one you are worshiping and praising? Do you have a relationship with Him?
This is because true worship is not actually about the songs but is about your heart and relationship with the Lord. Itโs about offering your whole being as a living sacrifice to the Lord. Your life is sacrificed and dedicated to love, obey, and do Godโs will all the time (Rom 12:1-2). Itโs about putting God first and making Him Lord of your life. When you have such a relationship with the Lord, there will be a time that you turn the words in your heart that you have for Him into a melody.
True worship is also not limited to a particular place and time. It is not only done on Sundays when you go to Church. God is a Spirit and He is everywhere. We can therefore worship Him everywhere and anytime (John 4:24). Letโs make this our lifestyle so that we will worship and praise the Lord at home, work, in our car, in a bus, in a train and all the time.
There are a lot of advantages in praise and worship. One of them is that the Lord inhabits the praise of His people (Ps 22:3). That Atmosphere we create in praise and worship can cause a great move of the Holy Spirit that will bring salvation, deliverance, breakthrough, and transformation. The praise and worship by Apostle Paul and Silas when they were imprisoned brought an earthquake which shook the foundations of the prison causing all the doors to be opened and their chains loosed (Acts 16:25-26).
Beloved in the Lord, God deserves all our praise and worship. Letโs therefore worship Him for who He is and praise Him for what he has done, for what He is still doing and for what He has promised to do. However, true worship is not about singing songs to the Lord but itโs about offering our whole being as living sacrifices to Him. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!
Prayer Point:
Letโs thank God for this word today. Letโs ask the Lord to help all Believers to understand true praise and worship and offer their whole being as living sacrifices to worship the Lord.
God bless you all
