Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellors there is safety.

( Proverbs 11:14 KJV)

In governments around the world and institutions in general. The wisdom of counsel has continually been employed from time immemorial and will remain a veritable tool. Having a council of advisers has always been part of every monarchical structure. This is not because the king is not wise enough or the head of state lacks appropriate wisdom, it is because they want to draw from the wisdom of others to reduce the margin of error as much as possible.

Fortunately for the believer, this is one of the ways God communicates his intention at junctions of critical decisions. If you have been seeking the face of God genuinely and he has not come to you in the dream, vision, prophecy, or knowing of the Spirit, He can still communicate through others to you who donโ€™t know each other but offering the same counsel. The principle of witness comes to play as long as two or more godly individuals are offering the same advice (2Cor. 13:1) with sincerity and not with any motive attached for example, your immediate family members are more likely to be bias to what they think will make you happy and shut their mind to any inspiration of the Spirit.

This is just one channel through which the mind of God can be sought and not the absolute and before this can be considered, we must be sure we are not hearing God through other means for ourselves. An important factor to watch out for is loss of peace. If the decision is wrong and you have sought the Lord concerning it, probability that the Lord will give you this sign is very high just to get you back on track because he is the one that leads (Ps 32:8).

God is always willing to direct his children at every point in their lives but we must also be willing with an open heart to receive his leadings and be spiritually sensitive to know when God is speaking from when men are only expressing human wisdom on matters.

Prayer point:
Letโ€™s thank God for His word. Father, continually lead and direct us all the days of our lives.

God bless you.
