Indeed I have all and abound. I am full, having received from Epaphroditus the things sent from you, a sweet-smelling aroma, an acceptable sacrifice, well pleasing to God.

The scriptures contain certain kingdom principles, that when applied, we will see the manifestation of His glory. One of such principles is the act of sacrifice. Though God emphasises obedience over sacrifice, there’s great power in sacrifice, and those who have discovered this utilize it for their benefit.

When God wanted to reconcile mankind to Himself, He sent His only begotten son to die for the sins of the world. This clearly shows the power of sacrifice, as mankind was restored to God after this. The power of sacrifice was also seen when Solomon sacrificed a thousand burnt offerings, and God responded by giving him wisdom much more than those in his dispensation (1 King 3:4-28).

Usually, when God wants us the see the power in a principle, He will use those who are not necessarily aligned with His will to demonstrate it. For example, to make us see the power of unity, the story of Nimrod and how he united the old world and desired to build a tower reaching the heavens, which was against the will of God (Gen. 11:1-9). Yet, God said, โ€œIf as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them (Gen. 11:6)”, revealing the power of unity. In the same manner, the power of sacrifice was also revealed in the story of the King of Moab Sacrificing His son when the Kings of Israel, Judah, and Edom came against him (2 Kings 3:26-27). Despite God had promised Israel and its accompanying kings (Kings of Judah and Edom) victory, God turned against them and gave the King of Moab the victory after he sacrificed his son. This shows the power of sacrifice, even though human sacrifice is not God’s will.

Some years ago, I was experiencing difficulties in my personal life and ministry. Then, I received a prophetic word that I should give the little I have, that it is what God needs to make His glory seen in my life. After this prophetic word, I had a dream, where the angel of the Lord came to me, and He said “Look at the kingdom of darkness, they practice the act of sacrifice and it is working for them. yet that principle is from the kingdom of God”. After this, I understood the importance of giving sacrificially.

Prayer Point.

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us to offer pleasing sacrifices to Him.
