So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. Galatians 3:9 NIV

The concept of the blessing and how to access it that is practised today in the body of Christ is majorly formed from what we read in the Old Testament, rather than an understanding of the New Covenant. Though God honours these practices, they are not doctrinal, and it is God’s will that we seek to understand and walk in the realities of the New Covenant.

In the Old Covenant, we see certain individuals blessing some others. For example, Isaac blessed Jacob and Esau (Heb. 11:20), and Jacob blessed his 12 sons (Gen 49:1 -27). However, in the New Testament, there’s no record of the Apostles or any other blessing another Christian. This is because a Christian is already blessed with every spiritual blessing in Christ Jesus (Eph. 1:3) the moment we believe the Gospel.

However, the extent of the manifestation of the blessing in Christ may be different for each one, depending on how much grace one has been able to access. Therefore, the difference among Christians is grace, and we access grace through faith (Romans 5:2).

A Christian is not one seeking to be blessed, a Christian is already blessed and is a blessing.

Prayer Point.

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help us believe the Gospel.
