In my last contribution to the Call to Prayer, I mentioned how having a positive mindset will help us overcome challenges. Again, I emphasized that seeing God in the midst of your challenges will help you believe that you can overcome, for we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Phil. 4:13).
Seeing Jesus goes beyond seeing visions of Him; it includes being able to perceive His work in the midst of trials. Though ten of the spies who spied the land of Canaan saw the giants and were scared, Joshua and Caleb saw something different: they saw that the protection of the Canaanites had left them, and God was with them (Num. 14:9). This sight came not necessarily because they saw visions or heard God’s audible voice, but because they believed God’s promise to them (Exo. 3:17).
We see God by faith, and that faith comes by hearing (Rom. 10:17). When we spend time listening to or meditating on the word, the reality that God is with us becomes more evident, and our view and interpretation of situations become more in line with God’s. This imparts us with a positive mindset that believes we can do it.
Apart from listening and meditation on the word, praying in tongues also helps strengthen our faith. Jude said, “…building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit (Jude 1:20)”. What the word does in our spirit is what happens when we pray in tongues.
Finally, practicing the word perfects our faith. James said of Abraham, “Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? (James 2:22)”. Some fail in times of trials not because they don’t hear the word or speak in tongues, but because they don’t practice the word (see Matthew 7:24-27).
Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His word today. Let’s ask Him to help all believers see Him in their situations.
