Title: The Just Shall Live By Faith

Behold the proud, his soul is not upright in him; but the just shall live by his faith. (Habakkuk 2:4 NKJV)

Once upon a time, there lived a great man of God and his wife. This man has been obedient and faithful to God, yet he and his wife were without a child. However, he continued to trust and believe in the Lord and His promises. At the appointed time the Lord blessed them with a son in their old age (Gen 21). The Lord again tested his Faith by asking him to offer his son as a sacrifice to Him and he obeyed and was ready to do so until the Lord asked him to stop (Gen 22). I am talking about Abraham and his wife Sarah.

There are various ways people live or lead their lives. Based on worldly standards, people live their lives on money, pleasure, and their thoughts and feelings. Many people think Money is everything. They are therefore willing to use any wrong means to acquire money (1 Tim 6:10). That’s why most people can use money rituals, prostitution, corruption, cheating, etc. to get money. The truth about money is that, he that loves it will never get satisfied with it (Eccl 5:10). They also forget that it is God who gives the Power to enjoy wealth and riches (Eccl 6:2).

Also, majority of the people in the world especially the youth live their lives based on pleasure (things that excites them). The motivation of many people is pleasure (Is 22:13). Sadly, the standards of the world are designed for pleasure (to please the flesh). That’s why there are so many of these things: drugs, drinking and smoking, wild Parties, having many girlfriends, sleeping with prostitutes, etc. (Luke 21:34).

Last but not the least, most people in the world live their lives based on what they think or feel. In human sense, what is good or bad is relative. People think lying, alcoholism, lesbianism, fornication, adultery, stealing etc. are not bad. That is why it is very dangerous to live your life based on what you think (Rom 1:28-32).

However, as Believers, we don’t have to live our lives based on the above-mentioned things. However, we live by Faith. What does it mean to live by Faith? It means living your life based on your Beliefs and not on your thoughts or emotions. When we were in the world, our lives were guided by worldly standards and principles. However, there is a new way of life after being Born Again and that life is lived based on Faith (Gal 2:20). The Just shall live by Faith!

Prayer Point:

Let’s thank God for His Word today. Let’s ask the Lord to help all Believers to live by our Faith and not based on money, pleasures, our thoughts and emotions.
