Title: Financial Prosperity is God’s Will
By: Daniel Peter
Date: 05.08.2024
For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich.
(2 Corinthians 8:9 NIV)
God has given us all things that pertain to life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3), and part of what we have received from Him is the blessing of financial prosperity. Like every aspect of our inheritance in Christ, we need knowledge to access this blessing.
The basis of all that God has given us in Christ is the cross, where Jesus suffered so we can have access to the blessing by faith. For example, the blessing of healing came to believers because of the stripes Jesus received on our behalf, for the scripture says, “By His stripes, we were healed” (1 Peter 2:24).
In like manner, Jesus Christ also suffered for our financial prosperity. This was affirmed by Apostle Paul when he said, “For you know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sake He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). God wants you financially prosperous, for He has paid the price for it.
Every blessing we have in Christ is manifested through certain acts of faith. For financial prosperity, giving is an act of faith that activates this dimension. This was what Apostle Paul was encouraging the Corinthians Church to do when he made them see the price Jesus paid for our financial prosperity. And in 2 Corinthians 9:7-8, he said, “Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”
Grace, which is the power of God, is the means by which God enables us to make wealth, for scripture says, “… And you shall remember the LORD your God, for it is He who gives you power (grace) to get wealth” (Deuteronomy 8:17 NKJV, emphasis mine). This grace is multiplied to us when we give joyfully.
The reason God wants you to prosper financially is so that you can be a blessing to others. Also, because He wants you to sponsor the spread of the Gospel, for Zachariah said “Thus says the LORD of hosts; My cities (the kingdom) through prosperity shall yet be spread abroad” (Zechariah 1:17 NKJV, emphasis mine).
Prayer Points:
Let’s thank God for His word today. Also, Let’s ask Him for grace to give joyfully and for the grace to manifest the fullness of the blessing that is in Christ.
