“Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?” Isaiah 43:18-19

Our past can often feel like a shadow following us around, reminding us of where weโ€™ve been and what weโ€™ve done. Mistakes, regrets, and old wounds may try to convince us that weโ€™re defined by those moments. But God invites us to see ourselves differently. Through His love and mercy, He makes all things new and gives us the chance to step into a fresh beginning.

In Isaiah 43, God tells His people not to dwell on the past because He is doing a new thing. This verse encourages us to lift our eyes off our mistakes, disappointments, and even past successes, and focus instead on what God is doing in our lives now. God doesnโ€™t see us by our past; He sees us by the potential of His Spirit within us.

When we accept Christ, we become a new creation (2 Corinthians 5:17). Our past no longer defines us because we are defined by His grace and purpose. God wants to use our storyโ€”no matter how broken it may seemโ€”to show His redemption and hope to the world. Every day, we have the opportunity to walk in this truth, embracing the freedom that comes from being loved and chosen by Him.

When God sees you he doesn’t see the mistakes or failures that might weigh you down instead he sees the potential he created in you, the beauty he is shaping in your life, and the future he has in store for you.

Apply this:

  1. Release the Past to God.
  2. Focus on Who You Are in Christ
  3. Step into Godโ€™s Newness Daily

Always remember that your past is a part of your story, but it is not the whole story. God has greater things ahead.

Prayer Points:

  • Thank God for his grace that renews you each day.
  • Surrender your past to himโ€”the mistakes, the regrets, and the wounds. Ask him to help you release them fully
  • Ask God to open your eyes to see the new things He is doing in your life.
