Title: Warring with Prophecies

This charge I commit unto thee, son Timothy, according to the prophecies which went before on thee, that thou by them mightest war a good warfare; (1 Timothy 1:18 KJV)
Prophecies are revelational in nature and most of the time, it will be referring to events in the future. Sometimes, they are connected to things in the past and how they affect the current situation. They may also carry instructions on what to do. For example, the prophet Elisha told the king of Israel to draw an arrow and smite the ground, but he stopped and the prophet told him that he would only defeat the king of Syria for 3 years (2 Kings 13:15-19).
As good as prophecies are, they will most times not come to pass automatically. There are certain criteria that need to be met. Even though the word of the Lord came by Elijah that it was about to rain, it didnโt just happen until he had prayed fervently with his head between his knees for several hours (1 Kings 18:42-44).
We must war with prophecies to see them fulfilled. Every time a word of prophecy is received, it means it is time to go work it out by carefully following the instructions given by the Lord and also birthing it by prayer. Every chapter that is revealed about the future requires warfare to birth them from the spiritual to the physical realm. That was the admonition that the apostle Paul was giving to his son Timothy in our opening text.
Until Jacob had the encounter with the angel where he fought and would not let him go, the manifestation of the prophecies over his life was put on hold.
Secondly, the bible admonishes us to test all spirits to see if it be from God or not. Not all prophecies are from God and he is only committed to what he says and to His will. Sometimes words are spoken presumptuously (Deut. 18:22) and they may sound like prophecies but because they didnโt come from God, they lack the capacity to come to pass.
In conclusion, there are many prophecies over our lives as believers from the word of God but we cannot fold our hands and expect fulfillment. We must war with it so it can come to pass.
Prayer point:
Let us thank God for the word today. Let us pray for the grace to fight until the prophecies over our lives come to pass.
